Aralado on song for Metropolitan

Ballymore’s promising son of High Chaparral, Araldo (pictured), is looking and feeling well ahead of the Group 1 Metropolitan Handicap at Randwick tomorrow over 2400m.

The winner of four races from 13 starts, Araldo has pleased trainer Mike Moroney with his lead up work and couldn't be happier with where he is at.

“He’s worked extremely well during the week and the step up to 2400m is going to suit him a lot better,” said Moroney.

“Ideally we would have liked a bit of rain to take the sting out of the track, but we didn't get it.”

“The wide draw is also a little tricky, although he gets back in his races anyway, but we still need a bit of luck in the running. I’m hoping we can get a nice drag into the race,” said Moroney.

Saint or Sinner will be the sole representative at Flemington tomorrow lining up in the Listed Tavern Stakes over 1400m.

His work this week has impressed the team at Ballymore and from the draw is a good chance.

“We are very happy with him going into this race and he is certainly up to this quality of field,” said Moroney.

Saint or Sinner has a strong record over the trip, course and second-up, all of which are key factors that make him a hot prospect in this event.

The last of this weekend’s runners is Mister Impatience who will line up in the Benalla Cup over 2046m on Sunday.

While the European import has yet to illustrate his genuine ability, Moroney is confident of an improved performance, although the distance may be a touch short of his best.

“He’s going well and I think this race will suit him,” said Moroney.

“The ace draw will certainly be of great assistance and he’ll look to go forward and we hope to see him still there at the business end of the race.”
