WORCESTER CAN WIN AGAIN

Three runners for us at Pakenham tonight after a quiet start to the week.

Last start winner Worcester (pictured) runs in the seventh race over 1600 metres with Declan Bates aboard and the son of Vadamos has thrived since his impressive win at Bendigo.

“The step up to 1600 metres last start suited and although it was only his maiden I thought he won with a bit of authority,” Mike Moroney said.

“He led the last half of the race and I thought he won with a bit in hand and he’s done well since.

“Obviously he’s up to benchmark 64 tonight and any ease in the ground will be in his favour. We'll be positive on him, there’s no reason why he can’t win again and I do expect him to prove hard to beat.”

Refreshing runs in the last race over 1200 metres under Patrick Moloney.

“She’s fitter now after two starts and this looks a very even fillies and mares race,” Mike said.

“She needs to improve but she’s good enough to win at her best and if the forecast rain happened to arrive and we ended up on a heavy track she will be suited as she has not missed a place on a heavy surface.”

Cavalry Man is the first to go in race three over 1600 metres with Blake Shinn to ride and scratchings reducing the opposition to six.

“He’s run well all three of his starts and he’s fit and in good order,” Mike said.

“My little query is the ground as he’s untried on soft but there’s no reason why he will not handle it.

“The trip should suit him and he’s there with an each-way chance.”
