Hoping to salute at Sale

On the back of five runners at Bendigo on Wednesday, we head to Sale on Thursday with another five - the first of those being debutant That’s The Way who takes his place in the third race, a 1213m maiden.

To be ridden by Nick Hall, the son of Pentire has impressed in his work and attitude and we are looking forward to his first start.

“He is a horse we have always had a high opinion of,” Michael Moroney said.

Also well regarded, Chilean Plume lines up in the following race, a 1424m maiden, Luke Currie to ride.

Safely held on heavy going in town last start, the son of Pins only just missed at his first start at Sale and a return to a firmer surface will suit.

“He should clear his maiden pretty quickly,” said Moroney with a degree of confidence – “he should prove hard to beat.”

Impressive breaking her maiden first up at Mornington, When My Baby steps up in class tackling a heat of the Rivette Series with Ben Melham to ride.

“She has had a few weeks in between runs but hopefully has held some fitness,” Moroney said, adding that the daughter of Brazilian Pulse’s sire Captain Rio would be suited by a rise in distance.

Zabisco (pictured) will contest a heat of the Winter Championship – dropping back a little in distance and a fair bit in class after contesting the Group 3 R. A Lee Stakes in Adelaide last start.

“He has been up a while but he will find this a more suitable race than last time.”

The final event of the day, the Eastcoast Handicap, seems promising stayer Mythical resuming over 1424m.

“She is a nice mare but she has a tricky gate (16) and it is likely to prove a bit short for her. “
