Five runners at home for us today including last start winner Jungle Jim on the quick back-up.

Jungle Jim (pictured) runs in the seventh race over 1200 metres along with stablemate Japanese Emperor, Tatum Bull aboard Jungle Jim and John Allen to ride Japanese Emperor and Mike Moroney has given Jim a quiet week after his win here at Flemington last week but confident he can run well again.

“He’s in terrific form and great order,” Mike said. “He’s nice and bright this morning after a quiet week and after the claim for Tatum Bull he’s going to carry less than what he did last Saturday.

“That said he’s up in grade and this looks a solid race with four last start winners engaged including him but I’m sure he will give them something to chase again.

“Japanese Emperor continues to frustrate but I’ve wanted to try him down the straight so we will see how it suits him going in a straight line and if it does suit him then we know he’s good enough to figure in the finish.”

Bermadez can hopefully get our day off to a winning start in the first race over 1600 metres under Jye McNeil.

“H’e fit and well and we’re happy with him,” Mike said. “The small field will make it interesting but we’ll leave it up to Jye and all things being equal I think he’s a great winning chance.”

Whisky On The Hill is in the eighth race over 2000 metres with Jye McNeil in the saddle.

“He gets out to 2000 metres today and we’re happy with him,” Mike said.

“He’s still carrying a winter coat but he’s fit and well. The outside barrier is not ideal but he should be better suited by the trip today and he’s there to run well.

Elkington Road rounds out our day in the ninth race over 1400 metres with Mark Zahra aboard.

“He was excellent first-up at Caulfield and we gave him a maintenance jump out in between to keep him ticking over,” Mike said.

“He’s in good order, likes this track and has drawn nicely so with ordinary luck I expect him to run well in a race where there looks to be a few chances.”
