BATTLE SOUND AND PINOTAGE RACE AT GEELONG

Battle Sound and Pinotage run for us at Geelong today.

Pinotage runs in the first race over 2270 metres with the in-form Dylan Browne McMonagle in the saddle.

Mike Moroney is prepared to let the daughter of Pierro take her chance on a heavy track.

“She’s one try on soft ground and it was inconclusive so we’ll find out if she can handle it,” Mike said.

“She’s nice and fit and the scratchings have helped. She’s still not the finished article and needs to furnish a bit more however, if she can handle the ground then she is there with a good chance.”

Scratchings have enabled Battle Sound (pictured) to gain a start in the ninth race over 1700 metres also to be ridden by Dylan Browne McMonagle.

“The field has cut up after plenty of scratchings and he only has five rivals,” Mike said.

“The heavy ground will not be a problem for him as he has won on it in New Zealand and we are happy with him.

“Ideally he will settle off the speed and then finish off and the way the race has panned out I think he’s a winning chance.”
