BENDIGO RUNNERS ON THURSDAY

Three runners for us at Bendigo today including Do I and Sassolino in the same race.

Exzello is the first to go in the sixth race over 2400 metres with Declan Bates riding and Mike Moroney is optimistic of another forward showing from the four-year-old.

“I was pleased with his last start second at Geelong where he stepped up to 2470 metres on a heavy track and came from last at halfway, albeit beaten comfortably,” Mike said.

“He showed he was capable of getting the trip and it was a real improvement on his previous runs this preparation.

“He’s done well since, he’s up in class but gets a nice weight drop to compensate and I am expecting him to run well again.”

Do I (pictured) and Sassolino are in the ninth race over 1600 metres with Rhys McLeod aboard Do I and Daniel Stackhouse to ride Sassolinio.

“Do I is mixing his form a bit but he is nice and fit and coping with a busy preparation well,” Mike said.

“I think the extra distance didn’t suit last start and he’s back to the same trip he scored over two starts back at Seymour.

“We’ve added a tongue-tie for today, the wide draw is no plus however, if he turns up in his best form then he’s certainly capable of winning.

“Ideally there would be a bit of cut in the ground for Sassolino but a good surface is not a problem.

“She’s second up as we look to get her out over a bit further and she will be suited by the track at Bendigo and I will be pleased to see her running on nicely today at the finish.”
