NEW BEGINNINGS AT BENDIGO

Metrical, Pink Chandon and Sassolino represent us today at Bendigo with Pink Chandon making her debut.

The Pierro filly is in the first race over 1000 metres for maiden fillies with Blake Shinn to ride.

“She’s had a bit of practice on soft ground but I’m not sure on a heavy track but today is only 1000 metres so it should even out,” Mike said.

“It’s a handy enough field but I like our filly and know she has nice ability.

“It’s a good track to get her started, she has first use of the track and I can see her running on nicely at the finish.”

It is the second Australian start for Metrical who ran well last start at Mornington and Mike Moroney is expecting a bold showing today.

“He’s trained on nicely from Mornington and I can’t fault him,” Mike said. “The form out of his last race has worked out well and the extra distance to 1300 metres today will suit ideally.

“My only little query is a heavy track however all things being equal I think he can clear his maiden today and we can move on up with him.”

Sassolino (pictured) rounds out our day in race five over 1500 metres with Daniel Stackhouse aboard the daughter of Tavistock.

“She’s resuming today and she look’s terrific,” Mike said. “She usually runs nicely first-up but she’s struck a strong race for this class.

“She’s ready to go and although it’s not her trip she’s ready to go.

“She’s drawn nicely, Daniel has won on her and this is the right track for her, I just hope the ground does not get too testing.”
