FALCON CAN SWOOP AT WERRIBEE

Three runners at Werribee for us on Thursday starting with Refreshing.

Refreshing is the first to go in race one for three-year-old fillies over 1100 metres with Patrick Moloney aboard.

“She’s trialled up nicely and she did finish a close second at Werribee on a heavy track so while it is not ideal starting off on a heavy track it should not bother her,” Mike said.

“The form out of her races is solid with winners coming out of them, the only disappointing run she has had was at Ballarat when she resented the synthetic kick-back.

“It’s only a small field but a competitive looking one and I expect our filly to be in the finish with ordinary luck.”

The promising Falcon Of Malta (pictured) and Order To Charge both go to the start for race three, the 3YO Maiden over 1400 metres with Daniel Stackhouse to ride Falcon Of Malta and Billy Egan on Order To Charge.

Falcon Of Malta has finished runner-up in both his starts and has returned in good order.

“I’m happy with him, he’s done well for the break,” Mike said.

“He’s had a couple of jumpouts to have him ready however, I’m expecting him to improve on whatever he does today.

“The heavy ground is the query - he’s only raced on good but provided he copes with the conditions then I’m expecting him to run well.

The conditions should not bother Order To Charge who has form on heavy and soft tracks in New Zealand.

“He’s carrying residual fitness from racing in New Zealand and I was pleasantly surprised with his jumpout last Friday, on speed all the way and through the line with three other horses,” Mike said.

“He’s an interesting runner, he’s a gelding now, has the experience and will not be bothered by the conditions.

“He had a nose roll for the jumpout and I’ve kept it on him for today. He only just missed at his last start in New Zealand and a repeat of that effort should see him competitive here.”
