HEAVY DUTY RESUMES TODAY AT GEELONG

Heavy Duty and Aladdin’s Lamp are our Thursday runners at Geelong.

Aladdin’s Lamp is the first to go in the first race, the Maiden Plate over 1765metres with Daniel Stackhouse riding from barrier one.

It is the second start for the three-year-old who takes on an open maiden here however, Mike Moroney is wanting to get her out in distance.

“She has trained on nicely since her first up run over 1400 metres where she showed some early pace but I believe she will appreciate the step up in trip today.

“Her work has pleased me leading into this and with a good barrier draw she should be able to race near the speed which will give her a chance.”

Heavy Duty (pictured) resumes in race 10 over 1447 metres with Jordan Childs aboard. It is the first run for the four-year-old since April but Mike has been very pleased with his jump outs and his work leading into this race.

“I couldn’t be happier with him and the way he has come back,” Mike said. “He’s drawn out and the rail is out but the scratchings help and in an ideal world Jordan will go forward and he’s a horse that races best that way.

“It looks an even sort of race but if he runs up to his work at home then I do think he will prove hard to beat.”
