WARRNAMBOOL RUNNERS ON THURSDAY

Watty’s Girl and Kaituku travel to Warrnambool today to represent us.

Watty’s Girl is in race three, the Maiden Plate over 1400m with Jordan Childs aboard from barrier four.

The daughter of Rubick made up some ground late on debut over 1100m at Echuca and Mike Moroney says has improved for the experience.

“I do think the extra distance will suit and she’s fitter today,” Moroney said.

“The track is listed as heavy 8 and I think she should handle it in a race where there is a little bit of form but nothing standing out.

“As I said she’s fit enough to show us what she is capable of today and I’m expecting an improved performance.”

Kaituku runs in the race after, the Maiden Plate over 1700m.

“I was pleased with his effort first-up over 1400m at Echuca a fortnight ago and he’s fitter for today,” Moroney said.

“The heavy track should not be a problem and we felt this was an easier race than the one we had ear-marked at Bendigo.

“From the draw I’d say we will be camped just behind the leaders. He’s definitely sharper in blinkers and fitter here I think he will prove hard to beat.”
