A big weekend looms!

Craig Young, Sydney Morning Herald.

King Pulse finished fourth behind Moody's Wanted in last year's Newmarket Handicap but on leaving the parade ring took fright during a freak hailstorm and was lucky to survive.

Set to carry 52kg, King Pulse is the winner of two from five, and returned with a seventh behind Black Caviar in the Lightning Stakes.

"This is probably our best chance of beating Black Caviar because it is a handicap and she is weighted up to her best," Moroney said yesterday.

"We are not scared to take her on. He went into that first run a bit big but he has trained on really well and will run a race. It would be good to get a result and put what happened last year behind us."

Chris Roots, Sydney Morning Herald

MELBOURNE visitor Absolutelyawesome looms as the unknown factor in Saturday's Royal Randwick Guineas at Warwick Farm but his trainer Michael Moroney is just hoping he gets a start.

The impressive son of Zenno Rob Roy has had little luck getting into group 1s, being an emergency for the Victoria Derby and Saturday's Australian Guineas.

"He missed the derby by one and the guineas by four, and I just want to get him into one of these big races, Moroney said. I have nominated for a midweek race here just in case he doesn't get a start up there, but I think he is up to running against the best."

Absolutelyawesome has won one of five starts but caught the eye when fifth to Australian Guineas runner-up Bullbars in the CS Hayes Stakes at his latest start, and Glen Boss has been booked to ride at Warwick Farm.

"In the spring he had a lot of niggles and probably the worst foot abscess I have seen, Moroney said. He was probably feeling it a long time before we knew about it. This time he has been a lot better and is ready to fulfil his potential."
