Born To Rock tackles the Gai Waterhouse

Another weekend approaches with runners in Victoria and Queensland, the stable enjoying great success with its Sunshine Coast stables - producing eight winners over the past couple of months. And some of our stable stars are enjoying the warmth up there, including Oaks heroine Brazilian Pulse.

Born To Rock is our sole runner at the feature meeting at Ipswich on Saturday, again taking on Listed company in the Gai Waterhouse Classic - the final event of the day.

A gallant fifth after setting a solid pace in the Listed Spear Chief Handicap at Eagle Farm last start, the lightly raced three-year-old looks suited back at 1350, having previously won by five lengths over that trip at Ipswich.

"It's a classy race," Michael Moroney conceded, "but her last run was very good after doing it tough and she should prove competitive again."

Shylock's Daughter (pictured) is the first of our two Moonee Valley runners on Saturday, the tough mare topweight in the mares 2040m event, the Dominant Handicap with apprentice Jordan Mallyon to claim 2kg.

"She is aided by a lovely draw (3)," Moroney noted, "and she is back to mare's class - she should prove hard to beat."

Hopefully we can get a running double up, consistent galloper Abitofado taking his place in the following race, the Gillies Country Cup over 2040m.

"We have dropped him back in distance and put the blinkers on," Moroney said. "Hopefully that will sharpen him up - and he has drawn nicely (barrier 3 for Lisa Cropp).

A couple of nice runners on Sunday also, at Pakenham imported gelding All Our War expected to run an improved race at his second Australian outing.

Safely held first up at Sale, the four-year-old may have found the 1700m fresh a bit too much for him - "he was a bit disappointing but we probably threw him in the deep end distance wise. He had a good blow afterwards. We expect him to run a better race although he will get show all the more over even longer trips."

Promising three-year-old Colossus Of Rhodes runs in the Class 2 mile at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday and he looks ready to win again - having won his maiden there nicely two starts back before a gallant second last start.

"We have added blinkers to his gear as we need to sharpen him up to make sure he can win and force his way into the Sunshine Coast Guineas field," Moroney said, confident of a bold showing - and confident that the gelding has a nice future.

"Long term he is a nice stayer in the making. He possesses a fair about of ability, he is a horse we really like."
