DAY AND NIGHT RUNNERS FOR US ON THURSDAY

Whittington Stone and King Landon are our Thursday runners at two venues.

King Landon runs this afternoon at Kilmore in race five, the benchmark 58 handicap over 1450m with Daniel Stackhouse to ride from the outside barrier 10.

The son of Testa Rossa finished seventh first-up on a heavy (10) track at Geelong and Mike Moroney is expecting a better effort today on a firmer surface.

“The draw is not ideal but the better ground will suit him,” Moroney said.

“He’s done well from the first-up run and will be improved with the run today. He’ll be better suited over the trip today but from the barrier he’ll more than likely have to go back and if they go hard in front then I’ll be expecting him to be running on.”

Whittington Stone (pictured) runs tonight at Pakenham in race five, the class 1 handicap over 1400m with Jake Noonan in the saddle to to jump from barrier six.

Whittington Stone led all the way to win last time out over 1400m at Pakenham and Moroney is expecting another bold showing tonight.

“I’m really happy with the way he’s trained on and his last piece of work was terrific,” Moroney said.

“I’d expect him to race on pace again and it looks a winnable race. Provided he gets a bit of luck than I’d expect him to be hard to beat.”
