Mike Moroney has spring aspirations for nicely bred two-year-old Sabrage who makes his debut at Caulfield on Saturday.

The Charge Forward colt, a $200,000 yearling, is out of Maroof mare Galoof making him a half-brother to Glasshouse Handicap winner and Doncaster placegetter Pinnacles.

Moroney prepared Galroof to win four races including the 2002 Group Three Doomben Classic (1615m).

She was runner-up in the Group Two Queensland Guineas (1600m), Group One Doomben Cup (2200m) and Queensland Derby (2400m) but didn't race again after that winter campaign.

"He's a lovely type of colt," Moroney said of Sabrage.

"He's won a jumpout at Werribee and looked a little bit new. When he got to the front he gawked around and did a little bit wrong.

"He's a horse that the further they go the better he is going to be.

"Just whether he can use that one barrier is going to be a bit of a question mark tomorrow.

"But he's a really nice horse and he's one of the ones we like for the spring.

"He does possess a fair bit of talent.

"We're going to give him this run and then possibly give him a break."

Lisa Cropp, who has ridden four winners for Moroney at the past four city meetings including a double at Sandown on Wednesday, will ride Sabrage in the Swettenham Stud Hcp (1200m).
