RAPID EAGLE TO DEBUT ON SUNDAY

Two runners for the team on Sunday at Bendigo including the debut of Rapid Eagle.

Rapid Eagle runs in the first race, the Maiden Plate over 1300m and will jump from barrier one under Michael Dee.

Connections have been patient with the rising four-year-old son of Rip Van Winkle but Mike Moroney believes that patience will be rewarded.

“He’s been a test at times but this preparation he’s turned things around,” Moroney said.

“His last jumpout in blinkers was good and he’s trained on nicely since and gone the right way.

“It’s hard to say but from the barrier I’d say we’ll let him roll along if he starts well as there does not appear to be a huge amount of early speed.

“It looks a handy enough maiden but our horse is beginning to show signs of him fulfilling his potential and if he runs up to his last jumpout then I do think he will be competitive.”

Flying Mr Davis is our other runner in race four, the Maiden Plate over 2400m.

It will be the sixth run this preparation for the son of Savabeel who will be ridden by Jake Noonan.

“He’s drawn out a little bit but that’s not a concern,” Moroney said. “This distance will suit and his work has been excellent since his last start when he had legitimate excuses.

“It’s a similar field today and I think if he runs up to his work he can go close to winning.”
