GALAXY GLEN HEADS TO THE RACES AGAIN

Galaxy Glen has another attempt to have his first start when he heads to Werribee along with Grand Teton on Thursday.

Galaxy Glen got to Kilmore last week just as the meeting was being abandoned due to the metal spikes being found on the tack but he lives to race another day.

Galaxy Glen is in race two, the Maiden Plate over 1400m where he will be ridden by Brian Higgins and jump from barrier two.

Mike Moroney said the draw is a help for the three-year-old son of Master Of Design.

“He should be able to use that gate as he’s shown us he has a bit of gate speed at home,” Moroney said.

“He does need a bit of practice so the inside draw will help.

“I’d envisage him settling behind the speed and then we will see what he does. I think whatever he does he will improve on as he looks like he will get over some ground.

“That said I’m expecting him to run well and he’s coming into the right time of year.”

Grand Teton (pictured) is in race seven, the Benchmark 58 Handicap over 1600m where Stephen Brown will ride.

The last time Grand Teton raced at Werribee he was successful three starts back in similar class over the same distance.

“We’ve dropped him back in trip from his last start at Mornington and freshened him up,” Moroney said.

“He looks good and has been going well but the wide draw is no help - he can be a bit slow away at times and at Werribee if he does it again it will make things awkward.

“The claim will help him and if he can get a good start then I’d expect him to be very competitive.”
