A BUSY EASTER SATURDAY FOR THE STABLE

A busy day for the stable with six runners at three tracks across the country.

Top Of The Range, Rhythm To Spare and Milwaukee run at Caulfield, Radipole and Tribal Wisdom are at Rosehill and Bonnieux ventures to Newcastle.

The first runner will be Top Of The Range who starts in race six, the Robert Taranto Handicap over 1800m where he will be ridden by Ben Melham.

After a good win at Caulfield Top Of The Range was an unlucky second over 1600m at Flemington last start and Mike Moroney is delighted with the way the son of Savabeel has progressed.

“The horse is glowing and I couldn’t be happier with him – he looks at his peak,” Moroney said.

“His work has been very good and I’m not worried about the wide draw - scratchings bring him in barrier wise and with ordinary luck in running I do think he will be hard to beat.”

Rhythm To Spare (pictured) starts another campaign in race eight, the Victoria Handicap (Gr 3) over 1400m with Patrick Moloney in the saddle.

The eight-year-old son of Pins is racing for the first time since October last year and has also drawn wide from an awkward start at Caulfield.

“It’s a pity because he’s flying at the moment,” Moroney said. “He looks terrific and is a stable favourite so we’re looking forward to seeing him back.

“There does look some pace in the race and if he can get a nice run then he’s a winning chance in what is an open race as you would expect.”

Last start Flemington winner Milwaukee runs in race eight, the Geoff Murphy Handicap over 1200m with Jack Martin again using his claim.

“He meets a similar class of opposition and has trained on really well,” Moroney said.

“His gallop on Tuesday was excellent and if he can get away with them at the start then I think he can win again.”

At Rosehill the first to go is Radipole in race eight, the Doncaster Prelude (Gr 3) over 1500m.

The import was beaten less than half a length at his last start when third in the Ajax Stakes (Gr 2) over 1500m at Rosehill.

“He’s drawn one from the outside which is not ideal but I’m very happy with the horse,” Moroney said.

“He had a nice gallop with Tribal Wisdom on Tuesday and I’m very happy with both of them.

“Radipole has recovered from his last start in good order and while this is a strong race I’m expecting him to be in the finish and hopefully win his way into the Doncaster.”

Tribal Wisdom runs in race nine, the Benchmark 93 Handicap over 1400m with Damien Oliver in the saddle.

At his last start Tribal Wisdom was beaten half a length when runner-up over 1350m at Rosehill in similar grade.

“He’s drawn out a bit unfortunately but Kerrin McEvoy was very happy with his gallop on Tuesday as was I,” Moroney said.

“There’s some handy horses in the race and our horse is going particularly well and with some luck in the bigger field I do think he will be hard to beat – especially if the rain arrived in time.’

At Newcastle Bonnieux is in race six, the Fillies and Mares Maiden over 1400m with Grant Buckley to ride.

The daughter of Choisir made ground in the home straight when third over 1200m at her last start at Newcastle.

“She has come through her last start in good order and this looked a suitable race for her,” Moroney said.

“I think the step up to 1400 metres is the key to her and her last start suggests she will be strong at the finish.

“If she can repeat that effort then I do think she’ll be hard to beat.”
