TWO GOOD CHANCES UNDER LIGHTS AT MOONEE VALLEY

Two good chances in good races for the stable at the last night meeting of the season at Moonee Valley on Friday.

Bolek is the first to go in race three, the Benchmark 70 Handicap over 1200m where he has drawn barrier three with Patrick Moloney to ride.

Bolek finished runner-up over 1100m at Morphettville at his last start after winning his previous two starts.

Mike Moroney believes the three-year-old son of Swift Alliance will be suited by the quirky Moonee Valley circuit.

“It’s a tight course but Bolek has so much early speed I’m expecting him to cope with it,” Moroney said.

“Against that, we are up against older horses but I feel he is up to it.

“He’s come through the trip to Adelaide in great order and worked well during the week. I do think if he brings his best form then he should be hard to beat.”

Equestria (pictured) is in the last race of the night, the $120,000 3YO Plate over 1200m where he will jump from barrier four after scratchings and be ridden by Patrick Moloney.

The son of Your Song is racing for the second time this campaign, having beaten older horses over 1100m at Bendigo on March 6.

“It is a major step up in grade for him but the prizemoney is too good to ignore,” Moroney said.

“It’s his first try around Moonee Valley but if they go hard then I envisage him being able to get a nice sit just behind the lead.

“He’s trained on lovely from the first-up win and while it is a step up in class, with reasonable luck in running, I think he will be competitive.”
