RHYTHM BACK FOR ANOTHER TILT AT THE SALE CUP

A softer track will be welcome for our two runners at Sale on Cup day.

Rhythm To Spare (pictured) is tackling the $200,000 Sale Cup (1600m) again, having finished third in 2013 and ninth in 2015 and Mike Moroney believes

“He’s racing as well as ever and the give in the track will certainly suit him,” Moroney said.

“He looks terrific and is nice and bright.”

The eight-year-old son of Pins won at Flemington and Caulfield before finishing third behind Bonneval and Abbey Marie in the Group II Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes over 1600m at Moonee Valley at his last start.

Moroney feels a repeat of that form will have Rhythm To Spare right in the finish.

“It looks like it will be truly run which will suit us,” Moroney said. “It’s an even field and it’s not an easy race by any means but with ordinary luck in running I feel he will be there at the finish.”

Milwaukee is other runner in race six, the Benchmark78 Handicap over 1200m.

The four-year-old is back in Victoria after a trip to Sydney where he finished fourth over 1250m at Canterbury in September.

“He wasn’t happy going right-handed for whatever reason so he’s back home,” Moroney said.

“He looks well and his work has been good - his last jumpout was very strong.”

Milwaukee has drawn nicely in barrier three which is a pluss according to Moroney.

“It’s only a small field and the Robbie Griffiths-trained Divine Quality does look a promising mare but I’m expecting our horse to be on speed,” Moroney said.

“If he doesn’t get too much pressure I can see him running a very nice race.”
