CHANGE OF TACK WITH COMMANDER

You Es Commander is the stable representative at Pakenham on Sunday and Mike Moroney has taken a change in approach with the son of Commands.

You Es Commander (pictured) starts in the fourth race, the Pakenham Tyres Maiden over 1600m and scheduled to start at 2.25pm (aest) on the synthetic track.

The four-year-old last raced on August 4 when fourth at Warracknabeal over 1800m having finished second over 1600m on a heavy track at Moe at his previous start.

“I’ve just kept him on the fresh side as we wait for him to strengthen,” Moroney said.

“We’ve also dropped him back in distance to help him.

“There are a couple in the race with some handy form so it will be interesting to see how this horse performs with a couple of changes to his regime.”

Moroney is not expecting any issues with You Es Commander racing on the synthetic surface.

“He’s always shown us ability and does not appear to have any issue training on the synthetic track,” Moroney said.

“There is some handy form in the race on Sunday but we think he has some sort of chance if the little tweaks we have made have an effect.”

You Es Commander has drawn barrier seven and will be ridden by Patrick Moloney.
