Rain Key for Sororia

Sororia will be hoping the weather forecasters predictions are spot on as she looks to break her maiden at Tauranga on Wednesday in the Mills Reef Winery & Restaurant Maiden over 1600m.

Regular rider Danielle Johnson will again attain riding duties on the three-year-old daughter by Iffraaj and the barrier draw of two should allow plenty of opportunities to get into an ideal spot early on.

One major factor that connections will be hoping for is that the predicted rain on the day comes and prevents the track from developing into a sticky situation.

“She didn’t cop that track at all last start at Matamata after the track received plenty of sunshine and turned it into a real leg burner,” Co-trainer Chad Ormsby said.

“The puggy nature of the ground didn’t suit and if we get rain on Wednesday that should loosen the track up, subsequently improving her chances. That and the step up to 1600m should see a vast improvement on her last start.”

Sororia is by inform sire Iffraaj and is from the winning Bertolini mare Yolanda who is a three-quarter sister to dual Group 3 winner Solvini, a half-sister to Group 1 winner Eileen Dubh and the stakes placed Protene Park.

Sororia derives from the mighty Soliloquy family that has not only seen Eileen Dubh among top honours, but that of Group 1 winners Culminate and Captivate.
