Wall Street kicks off in C.F Orr Stakes

Carnival action heats up at Caulfield on Saturday and we take a nice team of six talented gallopers to the C.F Orr Stakes meeting.

We kick off with Flashy Fella who looks nicely primed to show his best third up in the opening event, the BMW Melbourne Handicap.

Close up at both of his runs this preparation, the handsome chestnut is suited by the step up to 2000m and he is nicely drawn in barrier 3 for champion jockey Glen Boss.

"We have been really happy with his two runs this time in," Michael Moroney said, "and whilst it looks a competitive race he should again figure in the thick of things."

A close up fourth when resuming over 1400m at Caulfield on January 5, Flashy Fella was even better second up with a game second over 1600m at Moonee Valley.

Lining up in the same race as Flashy Fella is Red Eye Special, a talented stayer having only his second run this campaign.

"His first up run will have improved him," Moroney noted, "but we would like a bit of rain for him."

The Listed Kevin Hayes Stakes is the first black type race on a big card and we are hoping Octavia can head to the paddock a winner.

"We are really happy with her," said Moroney. "She has come through her latest run really well and she has been performing consistently this time in."

"Last start she was softened up a bit in front and only caught late. She has fitness on her side on Saturday against a few nice fillies who are resuming."

"She will," he continued, "probably head out for a spell after this and we may consider a winter campaign for her."

All of our horses have fared well with the barrier draw on Saturday, including our feature runner Wall Street who jumps from barrier six in the Group One C.F Orr Stakes.

To be ridden by Steven Arnold, the classy and consistent galloper is having his first run since the Railway Stakes in Perth last November.

"He only had a brief break after his Western Australian campaign," Moroney said, änd he does usually race quite well first up."

"Áll Too Hard is going to be hard to beat but our fellow should prove competitive - he always does."

Zabisco lines up in another of the day's features, the Group 3 Carlyon Cup over 1600m.

Glen Boss, who was aboard for Zabisco's Flemington victory two starts back, re-unites with the galloper who got a bit too far back at Caulfield last start.

"Being a stallion we are keen for him to chase black type," Moroney said, adding that, as is the case with Red Eye Special "a bit of rain would help."

Bonnie Mac is our final runner for the day, the five-year-old looking nicely placed in the Group 3 Bellmaine Stakes.

"We are really happy with her - Steven Arnold said that last start she was a bit reluctant to take a gap, she was a bit gun-shy - so we've hadded the blinkers this time and she is suited back at mares class."
