Classic Prospect to Make Debut

Three-year-old son of Tavistock, Bugle Call (pictured), is set to make his debut at Te Aroha tomorrow in the Maiden event over 1400m and his solid trial form suggests he could in for a successful classic campaign.

The Tavistock/Zabeel cross has seen an abundance of prolific performers, which naturally makes Bugle Call’s cross even more so interesting being out of the Sir Tristram mare Starina.

“He’s a quality individual that we have taken along quietly and it’s exciting to finally get him to the races,” co-trainer Chad Ormsby said.

“He has a lot of Sir Tristram about him and he is certainly going to relish the longer trips later in his campaign, and all going well, we are hopeful he can put his hand up as a Derby prospect.”

Bugle Call will be ridden by leading jockey Michael Coleman and jumps from barrier seven.

The second runner on the card is the Kevin Hickman owned All Knitted Up who is ready to step up to a more favourable distance (2200m) and will be ridden by premiership leading jockey Matthew Cameron.

All Knitted Up ran on very strongly over the concluding stages at his last outing in Saturday company, so the step up in distance and drop in class will all play in his favour.

“I’ve got plenty of time for this horse and it’s been about getting his fitness levels up to scratch so he can see out the distance. It will be his first time over ground, and whatever he does tomorrow he is only going to improve – he has with each start.”
