Geelong & Bendigo

Hopefully winter won't be as harsh as we take runners to Geelong on Wednesday and Bendigo on Thursday... the stable looking to have several nice chances at both meetings.

Kicking off our day at Geelong is Zazparella (pictured) who was so game in defeat at Sandown last time out.

Due to jump from barrier two in the Elephant & Castle Hotel F&M BM84 Handicap with Glen Boss aboard, Zazparella looks nicely placed and she has been pleasing the stable.

"She continues to work nicely," reported Anthony Feroce, "and she has drawn a good gate in similar company to what she has been racing well in."

"She looks to be a good winning chance."

Meanwhile Devonshire Duke is fresh in the Sportingbet Handicap, having his first run since a first-up Mornington fifth in late May.

“He has had an issue with an eleveated white cell count,” Feroce said, “but he has been working well. The 1300m might prove a bit short but we will be looking for him finishing off strongly.”

Thursday is a slightly busier day with the first of our Bendigo runners being Space in the Centrebet Showcase.

An easy Geelong winner last start, the Dubai Destination gelding has been “working extremely well since.”

“He has been thriving,” Feroce enthused, adding that “he has Steven Arnold aboard again and he knows the horse well.”

“As long as the track does not get too heavy he is a good chance again.”

In the ninth event at Bendigo, the Stride Events Handicap, we have two entries but with rain about Walloon Region is unlikely to run. Awesome Goal however boasts very good wet track form.

“The step up to 1600m should suit him,” Feroce said, noting that the Golan four-year-old was not too far away over 1300m when resuming from a lengthy spell at Wodonga recently.

“We are expecting an improved showing from him.”
