Two State Attack

Ballymore has a busy week with runners in Sydney and Melbourne on Wednesday and a couple of nice prospects at Sale and Wyong on Thursday.

We start early at Kensington's midweek meeting with Postnthyme making her Australian debut in the opening event, the Early Quaddie Handicap. The winner of two of her last three starts and yet to be unplaced in five outings, the consistent and promising Pins filly took a while to settle into Sydney but has done so now. "She travelled over well and is happy now," Moroney reported, adding that a step up to 1800m will suit the filly who is bound for the Queensland carnival.

As is Total Response (pictured) who is also having her first Australian start - taking her place in the sixth race, the Drummond Golf Handicap. Racing for the first time since late January, the Kheleyf filly has trialed well and Moroney is not concerned about the track being rated slow. "She has wet track form and it would not surprise me to see her run a good race first up."

At Sandown Sunset Magic lines up in the second race, the Hayman Plate. "It looks a strong race," Moroney said, "but she has freshened up well and should prove hard to beat." The Zabeel breed are known for racing well on the fresh side and Sunset Magic, who was second to the subsequent city winner Malabar Man two starts ago, has not raced for a month.

Mrs Hadlee, who races in the Mistable Handicap, is our second Sandown runner. She comes off a disappointing below best performance at Kyneton last time out but we are hoping for an improved showing from the daughter of Hat Trick. "We have given her a little bit of a freshen-up which we hope will help and her form before that run was consistent," Moroney said.

The first of our three Sale runners on Thursday is Milkwood who is nicely primed for a step up to 2200m in the Eastcoast Plumbtec Handicap. "And she finally gets the rain affected track she has been looking for," Moroney said. "She has been running nice races on good tracks and her wet track form is even better," he continued, adding that the Dylan Thomas four-year-old is already a winner at the track.

Also looking for the sting out is Walloon Region who races in the Steeline Showcase. "The 1200m may be a bit short for him first up," Moroney noted, "but it is a nice race for him to kick off in." The son of Danzero began his last campaign in a similar race over 1300m and was an unlucky fourth.

We are hoping If It Don't Fit gains a run as emergency in the Eastcoast Paint Handicap as the lightly raced four-year-old is ready to kick off his campaign. "He is a query if the track is wet but he is a nice young stayer in the making and we'd like to get his preparation under way," Moroney said.

Exceed And Excel filly Music Of Life ran extremely well first up at Hawkesbury a few weeks ago and she strips fitter for the 1000m maiden event at Wyong on Thursday. "She didn't really handle the heavy going there so it was a good effort," Moroney said of Music Of Life's third placing. "So long is the track is no worse than slow she will probably take to place and she should run very well again."
