Quiet weekend but spring beckons!

Ballymore saddles up just the two runners this weekend but we have much to look forward to with three of our Spring hopefulls - Sabrage, Shenzhou Steeds and imported mare Poplin - due kick off in the next couple of weeks.

Meanwhile we head to Traraglon on Saturday with last start winner Tallahatchie who, being a son of High Chaparral, will appreciate a step up in distance.

Lining up in a 1900m ratings event, the lightly raced five-year-old finished powerfully to claim his maiden at Wodonga a few weeks ago and he has pleased us with his progress since.

"He seems to have improved," Michael Moroney said, adding that "going further is going to help him."

"The concern is whether he can get around that track but we are really happy with the way he as trained on."

To again be ridden by Jason Lyon, Tallahatchie jumps from barrier 11 of 14.

Our other weekend runner is Our New Order who also looks a nice chance - drawn nicely in barrier two for Vlad Duric in the final event at Seymour on Sunday.

A five times winner in New Zealand, the talented six-year-old tired late after making the pace at his recent local debut - Moroney admitting that he may've been better off in a shorter race.

"He was fresh and a 1200m event might have suited him better," he said.

"But we have been very happy with him since and we are expecting him to improve a fair bit."
