Runners aplenty

A busy weekend awaits Ballymore with runners at Caulfield, Rosehill, Colac, Kyneton and Pakenham and pluse Kilmore on Monday.

Kicking off the action at Caulfield is promising filly Miss Hadlee who contests the opening event, the Sportingbet Handicap over 1000m.

An encouraging debut second at Sale, the daughter of Hat Trick has the benefit of the inside draw and Jake Noonan's claim.

"She is a very laid back filly," Michael Moroney says, "and the more we have done with her the better she has gone."

"She is has improved since her first run and she is pretty fast - it looks a nice race but it would take a quick one to head her off."

Up-and-coming three-year-old Flashy Fella is our other Caulfield runner, taking his place in the seventh race, the De La Salle Centenary Plate over 2000m.

A good looking chestnut who caught the eye with a strong late finish at big odds in the Autumn Classic, the son of Thorn Park will be ridden by Glen Boss and he looks nicely primed for the step up to 2000m.

"He has trained on really well and we think he is a pretty good horse," Moroney said, "he should prove hard to beat."

The Sydney Autumn Carnival kicks off on Satuday and we have a runner in one of the features - Wall Street lining up in the $400,000 Gr.1 Ranvet Stakes.

Due to again be ridden by Damien Oliver who has been aboard both runs this campaign, Wall Street steps up to the 2000m off a very good Blamey Stakes third over the mile.

"This looks a strong running of the Ranvet," Moroney said, "but he is a Gr.1 winner at the trip and the sting out of the track should help him."

Jamelden's Dream looks a nice chance to break his maiden in the first event at Terang, the lightly raced four-year-old a bold second at his most recent outing.

"He gets his chance with the addition of blinkers," Moroney said.

Kyneton on Sunday sees former South Australian galloper Please Consider debut for the stable in the Macedon Ranges Cup.

To be ridden by Jason Lyon, the lightly raced four-year-old won two in a row last winter and Moroney is confident that he has come on.

"He is a more mature horse now," he said, "and he has been working well."

Sunday is Pakenham Cup day and we saddle up Viking Hero in the feature, the five-year-old freshened after a trip to Tasmania and back in distance.

"We don't think he saw out the 2400m of the Launceston Cup," Moroney said.

"He is always competitive in these sorts of races and he should run well."

Another two runners at Kilmore on Monday, Tiger's Girl resuming in the third race - a 1457m maiden.

Safely held at her debut last spring, the daughter of Tiger Hill has been given time.

"She has been a slow maturer," Moroney said, "but she is a filly we have always liked and she will get better the further she gets over."

Sandara contests the following race, also a 1457m maiden and he looks suited back in distance.

"We might've got it wrong putting him up over the mile last start," Moroney conceded.

"He looks like he might be a 1200m/1400m horse," he said, adding that "on his work he would be hard to beat."
