Busy day at Headquarters

A busy day at headquarters kicks off with Wall Street who will carry the no.1 saddlecloth in the $200,000 Gr.2 Blamey Stakes.

Having only his second run back from a spell, the multiple Gr.1 winner ran well when resuming in the Futurity Stakes - not having the best of luck.

"The sectionals times show that he had no hope from where he was," Michael Moroney said, "but he still ran well."

"We have been really happy with him since and he should prove hard to beat."

A winner at the highest level second up, Wall Street has drawn nicely in barrier 7 for Damien Oliver.

Quality sprinter African Pulse (pictured) is our next runner, due to take his place in the $1 million Gr.1 Newmarket Handicap.

Hopefully the straight track will be suiting those drawn out as, with Lisa Cropp aboard, the lightly raced three-year-old has drawn 22 of the 23 runners.

Coming off a below best performance in the Oakleigh Plate, the son of Johannesburg has pleased us since and we are hoping for an improved showing.

"He was slightly disappointing at Caulfield," Moroney said, "but he might have gone out a bit hard and wide."

"It is a strong version of the Newmarket with a big field but he is well weighted and we have been very happy with him."

Gallant grey Glass Harmonium is our runner in the day's other feature event, the $1 million Gr.1 Australian Cup.

Nicely primed for the 2000m second up having run well in the Peter Young (St George Stakes) when resuming, the tough and talented six-year-old looks the likely leader and should prove hard to run down with Damien Oliver aboard.

"We can't fault him," Moroney enthused.

"He will strip at his best and he ticks a lot of boxes - he loves Flemington and the 2000m is his trip. He will be hard to beat."

Having his first run in Australia, Zabisco is the fourth of our quartet of Australian Cup Day runners - the lightly raced four-year-old lining up in the final event, the $100,000 Listed Super Saturday Handicap.

Boasting excellent NZ form - yet to miss a placing in nine starts, the son of Zabeel has pleased us with his work and should run nicely first up.

"He is forward enough to run well," Moroney said, pointing out that the honest galloper has not always had the best of luck - featuring in the stewards report at four of his last five runs!

Craig Williams takes the ride on Zabisco whom Moroney describes as "an interesting runner."
