Four pronged attack on Gr.1 raceday

A busy Caulfield day awaits the stable with four runners including African Pulse who takes his place as a top chance in the Gr.1 Oakleigh Plate.

Impressive when showing great heart to win first up over 1000m at Caulfield, the lightly raced and exciting colt has tasted defeat only once in a four start career and Michael Moroney is looking forward to seeing how he meaures up in Gr.1 company.

"We have always thought of him as a Group class sprinter," he said, "so it will be very interesting to see where he is at. He is well weighted and with luck in running he can finish right with them."

To jump from barrier 7, African Pulse will be ridden by Lisa Cropp (aboard at all of his four starts to date) and he enjoys a 4kg weight drop from his latest brave victory.

Our Gr.1 raceday kicks off earlierin the day with the well named good-looker Flashy Fella lining up in the Gr.2 Autumn Classic.

In good form prior to a below par effort at Ballarat last start, the promising three-year-old may well be worth another chance - drawing wide under a big weight that day.

"We have put the blinkers back on which will hopefully make a difference," Moroney said, adding that "we have had this race in mind for him for a while and even though he was a bit disappointing last start we decided to stick to the original plan."

Proven Gr.1 performer Wall Street kicks off for Ballymore in another of the day's big races, the Gr.1 Futurity Stakes - Damien Oliver to take the ride.

"He hasn't got a great first up record," Moroney conceded, "but he has got the class and if he gets luck in running it would not surprise me if he was in the finish."

Also to be parterned by Damien Oliver, gallant grey Glass Harmonium is having his first run after an operation to correct a displaced palate - and he has had plenty of work leading up to the Gr.2 Peter Young Stakes.

"He is a class horse and his fitness levels are there," Moroney said. "He has had to jump-outs to fit him up and we are happy with him."

Due to contest the Australian Cup second up, Glass Harmonium is a horse who finds from quickly and from barrier one should enjoy a nice run in transit.

"Providing he hops away well and does everything right he should prove hard to beat," he said, adding that an overseas campaign may be on the agenda after Flemington - Singapore and/or Hong Kong after a trip to Sydney both possibilities.
