A quartet of chances at Sandown midweek

Promising filly Flutter is our first runner on a busy Wednesday, Ballymore Stables due to saddle up four horses at the midweek Sandown meeting.

Having her fourth run in Australia, the well related daughter of Savabeel caught the eye with a strong late finish in stronger Saturday company at Flemington last start and Michael Moroney is confident of a bold showing.

"I am very keen on her," he said, "it is of some concern that she's had a few runs now but on her work I really like her and she looks well placed - her last run was very encouraging."

With only eight rivals in the 1600m three-year-old fillies event, Flutter should enjoy a trouble free run for Chad Ormsby who also takes the ride on our next runner - Mariah's Pulse in the D'Urban Handicap.

A sound fifth at her Sandown debut, she appeared disappointing when last at the same track next time out but there were excuses, Lisa Cropp reporting that the daughter of Nadeem was very field shy.

"She drew one that day and has again which is a concern," Moroney said, "but we have added blinkers and we think that will do the trick."

"She is a real chance on her track work," he added - "she only has to bring her work to the races to prove hard to beat."

Hopefully we can get a running double up, our next runner Deep Forest contesting the Congratulations Cadel Evans Handicap.

Arriving in Australia late after a delayed flight on Monday morning, the five-year-old was in winning form two starts back and unlucky last time out.

"She should probably be coming here with two 1's next to her name," Moroney said, adding that whilst her recent wet track form has been disappointing she has handled it in the past.

"And a Melbourne heavy is not quite as bad as a New Zealand heavy," he said.

Moroney expressed some concern regarding Deep Forest's late arrival to Melbourne but bloods have been taken and have read well and "she appears to have settled in nicely."

As You Like it is the last of our four Sandown runners, lining up in the final event over 1300m.

An impressive Sunshine Coast maiden winner two starts back, the lightly raced son of Falvelon was fancied to go on with the job at Eagle Farm last time out but he proved a handful for his rider.

"Eddie Wilkinson reported that he couldn't steer him around the turn," Moroney said, adding that he had been disappointed - confident that the gelding could've featured in the finish.

"He is a tough, strong horse," he added, hopeful that he will prove more tractable the Melbourne way of going.

"If he gets his manners right he will be a strong chance," he said.
