YATTON DEBUTS ON TUESDAY

Hurricane Fighter and Yatton are our Tuesday runners when they travel to Ballarat.

Yatton is the first to go in race two, the Fillies and Mares Maiden Plate over 1400m with Daniel Stackhouse to ride.

It is the first start for Yatton, a Savabeel filly out of the good mare O’Reilly Rose, which has shown Mike Moroney nice ability on the track.

“I don’t normally like to start them off on the synthetic but she’s trialled on it at home and with all the heavy tracks about it is probably the best option,” Moroney said.

“She’s a lovely big daughter of Savabeel and she’s one we have always liked and felt that she might be competitive in the better spring races.

“She’s still learning her crafty which is the question mark but first start at 1400 metres and she’s got a good brain so she should be able to relax and switch off.

“She’s drawn nicely in barrier three and if she can handle the surface at race speed then I’m expecting her to run well.”

Hurricane Fighter runs in race seven, the Benchmark 64 Handicap over 1400m with Jordan Childs in the saddle and to jump from barrier three.

It is the third run this preparation for Hurricane Fighter, racing for the first time on the synthetic surface.

“He’s drawn nicely and he’s jumped out nicely here on the Polytrack so the surface should not be a worry.

“I’ve changed things up a bit with him and kept him on the fresh side. It does not appear to be the strongest race and if he runs up to his best than I can certainly see him winning.”
