METEOR LIGHT AT SANDOWN ON WEDNESDAY

Meteor Light has conditions in his favour on the Hillside course at Sandown today.

Meteor Light runs in race five, the Benchmark 70 handicap over 2400m with apprentice Will Price reducing the weight to 59kg on a track rated soft (7).

Meteor Light carried carried 54.5kg to score over 2400m at Benchmark 70 level at Sandown last start and has his preferred soft ground conditions again today.

Mike Moroney erred on the side of caution by scratching Meteor Light from his intended race at Flemington last Saturday but the slight mucus issue is all clear.

“He’s gone up in the weight so we’ve been able to use Will and take advantage of his 3kg claim,” Moroney said. “It’s obviously an issue but he’s down in class so in theory it will even out.

“Ideally the horse will jump cleanly and then enable him to race on the pace and then make his run from a way out as he is a good stayer.

“It’s a stronger field but I’m happy with the horse, he’s trained on well, is really well in himself and I’m sure he will run well.”
