Moonee Valley & the Sunshine Coast Wednesday

Midweek racing action heads to Moonee Valley this week and Ballymore will be represented by three runners kicking off with quality mare Marheta in the Essendon Jeep Handicap.

Hard fit for recent racing, the four-year-old showed a return to form over 1800m at Sandown last start, finishing on strongly to only just miss out on the prize.

A step up to 2040m on Wednesday looks ideal and Lisa Cropp again takes the ride.

"She got back into form last start," Michael Moroney said, "and she has been going really well since."

Brillanconi is a horse who really knows how to find the line and we are expecting the six times winner to bounce back in the Essendon Hyundai Handicap.

Failing to fire on heavy going at his most recent outing, the four-year-old had bolted in at his previous start at Echuca and is bound to appreciate the better surface.

"Up to that run he'd been in terrific form," Moroney said.

Can Get Thirsty needs to sneak a run in the final event, being third event in the Essendon Jeep Stakes. He too is a horse looking for a better surface, having been unplaced on heavy at his latest.

"He was slightly disappointing," Moroney conceded, "but he hadn't had a run for a few weeks."

A runner in Queensland also, My Dream Catcher topweight in the Class 2 event at the Sunshine Coast.

Very good when third first up over the 1400m, she strips fitter and is suited up to the 1750m.

"She ran really well first up and it was a bit short for her there - this trip is ideal."

In news from last weekend, Glass Harmonium (pictured) has pulled up well, a decision on whether he backs up in the Brisbane Cup hingening on the release of weights on Tuesday afternoon. King Pulse meanwhile found trouble in his race, pulling up wih a couple of black eyes. He heads to the paddock for a spell.

On Sunday we had an impressive winner at the Sunshine Coast, Shenzhou Steeds at his first Australian outing racing away to a 4.8 length victory.

"He shows a fair bit of promise," Moroney said, adding that the three-year-old will progress to mid-week city class enroute to a crack at the Sunshine Coast Guineas.
