TWO GOOD CHANCES FOR US AT PAKENHAM ON FRIDAY NIGHT

Vantastic and Zastarisborn are our runners at Pakenham tonight on the synthetic track following the switch from Cranbourne.

Zastarisborn (pictured) is the first to go in race three, the Maiden Plate over 1200m. Michael Dee will ride from barrier one and Mike Moroney is happy to run given Zastarisborn has worked nicely on the Polytrack at Flemington.

“It’s her first start and obviously the switch to the synthetic track is a query but she has worked well on the synthetic at Flemington so I’m happy for her to take her chance,” Moroney said.

“She’s a lovely filly by Charm Spirit and they seem to prefer softer conditions. She has shown us good gate speed so if she flies the barriers she could even lead tonight.

“The last furlong might be the query but she’s a lovely filly and I’m happy with her going into it. There are a few scratchings and it doesn’t look the strongest of races so I’m thinking she can be a winning chance if things go her way and she handles the track.”

Last start winner Vantastic goes in race eight, the benchmark 64 handicap over 1600m with Rhys McLeod to ride.

“He’s the same as Zastarisborn in as much as he’s worked well on the Polytrack here so I’m happy for him to try the synthetic,” Moroney said.

“He’s done well since his last start win which I thought was very good. He’s up against some seasoned older horses in a step up in class but we’ve always liked our horse and he’s still improving so I think he’s a good winning chance again.”

Laybuy was our intended runner at Geelong during the day however, he will have to wait for another day with that meeting abandoned.
