WOW! WHAM WINS AGAIN

Wham certainly looks a progressive horse following his demolition of stronger opposition on the Lakesidde course at Sandown on Wednesday.

Ridden with confidence by Jordan Childs, Wham was allowed to settle back from a wide barrier before beginning to tack on to the main bunch around the home turn.

It was a beautiful sight to see Wham sweep up to hit the front, Childs motionless as Wham simply accelerated away to score by four lengths at the finish of the benchmark 78 handicap over 1400m.

The son of Fiorente is now unbeaten in two starts since Mike Moroney added blinkers.

“He’s always shown us good ability, the blinkers have just got him more focussed and I was impressed with his win today,” Moroney said.

“He was up in class, it has been a leaders track today but the way he just swept past them in the straight suggests to me that he still has a bit more progression in him.

“Jordan said he was travelling easily all the way and the way he went through the line, a step up in trip should not be a problem.”

Wham was purchased by Paul Moroney as a yearling for $45,000 at the Inglis Premier sale and has now won four races and earned $166,000.
