OUT TO KEEP THE WINNING RUN GOING AT THE VALLEY ON FRIDAY NIGHT

Two runners at Moonee Valley on Friday night after a successful week.

Bonaparte at Pakenham on Thursday night was our fourth winner from our last 11 runners over the past three days and we’d like to think we can add to that with Chicago Cub and Outback Warrior this evening.

Chicago Cub (pictured) runs in the first race, the Emma Boling 3YO Plate over 1200m with Ben Melham to ride from barrier three.

The son of Zoustar finished runner-up over 1200m at Moonee Valley at his latest start after getting well back. Mike Moroneyis prepared to tackle Friday’s contest despite it being a set weights and penalties race.

“He’s not suited by the conditions of the race and has to give weight away however, we decided to run for several reasons,” Moroney said.

“He’s already had a run at the track and got around it well, it is not far away and it’s been a hot week and there does not look to be a huge amount of speed in the race.

“We’ve always had a good opinion of him and thought he’d be running better races in the spring but he missed those due to being gelded.

“If he can win this race it will help his rating and then we can look at some better races for him.”

Outback Warrior runs in race three, the Schneider Electric Handicap over 1200m with Michael Poy reducing his weight and jumping from barrier eight.

“The weight reduction gives him a chance in what looks an even race,” Moroney said.

“He’ll go around carrying less than Testifier the favourite and if he jumps and puts himself there then he’s not too hard to ride.

“Moonee Valley is the only question mark with him, he’s trained on well and I’m expecting him to run well.”
