A BUSY WEDNESDAY WITH RUNNERS AT TWO VENUES

A busy day for the team with runners at Kyneton in the afternoon followed by the twilight meeting at Sandown.

Bill The Bee and Miss Ladybird head to Kyneton while Hurricane Fighter, Arctic Wolf and Play That Song are at Sandown.

Bill The Bee is the first to go in race three, the Maiden Plate over 1200m where he will be ridden by Patrick Moloney from barrier two.

The son of So You Think is now a gelding and Mike Moroney says the procedure has made a big difference.

“He seems a far better horse since being gelded and he’s trialled up terrific into this,” Moroney said.

“He’s drawn well and with his good gate speed he should be able to take bad luck out of the equation in what does look a winnable race.

“It could fall for him to get an unchallenged lead and if that happens then I think he should be hard to beat.”

Miss Ladybird resumes in race four, the Fillies & Mares Maiden Plate over 1100m, jumping from barrier one in a field of nine after scratchings with Nikita Beriman to ride.

“The main key to her chances will be to take advantage of the barrier,” Moroney said.

“She’s a stronger filly now and we’ve taken all the gear off her so if she can get away fast and make use of the inside then that will give her a winning chance I think.

“She’s physically stronger and if we let her do her own thing she appears happier rather than trying to force her to relax.”

Hurricane Fighter is the first to go at Sandown in race two, the Spicer Thoroughbreds Plate over 1300m with James Winks to ride from barrier four.

It is the first start this preparation for the son of Savabeel since finishing second over 1400m at Cranbourne in October last year.

“He’s trialled up nicely and we’re really happy with him,” Moroney said. “He looks to have the best form from those that have raced.

“He’s a stronger horse now and has trialled up well so he’s there to run a competitive race.”

Arctic Wolf races for the first time in race three, the Blue Star Print 2YO Plate over 1300m with Mark Zahra to ride from barrier one.

“He’s a lovely type of colt by Sebring who hasn’t got too heavy which is pleasing,” Moroney said. “He’s shown us ability and picking things up as he goes.

“He’s meeting a handy field but provided he jumps on terms with them I think he will be competitive as he’s shown us he is a city class colt.”

Play that Song (pictured) rounds out the day in race eight when she commences another preparation in the Ladbrokes Multiverse Handicap over 1400m with Damien Oliver riding from barrier four.

“Everything is right with her but it looks an extremely strong race with a lot of depth to it,” Moroney said.

“I’m very happy with her, she’s working extremely well and on her trials I was looking at this race in the calendar thinking she could win but the depth of the race has me thinking again.

“That said I couldn’t be happier with the way she’s prepared for it and I’m expecting her to run a big race.”
