DEBUT FOR MR DAVIS AT KILMORE ON TUESDAY

Three runners for the team at Kilmore on Tuesday including Flying Mr Davis on debut.

Flying Mr Davis and Do You Reckon both run in race one, the 3YO Maiden Plate over 1462m with Louisville Lip our other runner in race eight, the benchmark 58 Handicap over 1612m.

Mike Moroney has taken his time with Flying Mr Davis, a son of Savabeel.

“This will be part of his education,” Moroney said. “In what he’s shown us he travels up nicely but when the tempo lifts he wants to stay on at the same pace, which is fine, as he’s bred to stay and that is what he wants to do.

“Today is a nice starting point foe him, a little trip away and while it does not look the strongest race I’ll be happy as long as he does everything right end is getting home late.”

Moroney is more confident with stablemate Do You Reckon in the same race.

“The step up to 1400m should suit him and he’s in good form,” Moroney said.

“He’s trained on really well since his last start and is nice and fit. The scratchings will help but we will likely try and get across from the draw.

“As I’ve said, it doesn’t look a strong race and Do You Reckon is going really well so I’m expecting him to be hard to beat.”

Louisville Lip (pictured) has drawn nicely in barrier three for his second start this preparation and has pleased Moroney since resuming at Ballarat on October 3.

“He keeps on improving and while today’s race could still be a bit on the short side I do think he can be competitive” Moroney said.

“I do think he’s an out-and-out stayer and this preparation he should be showing us that.

“It’s a big field but a nice race for him and if gets some luck in running then I will not be surprised to see him run well.”
