Williams confident

Top Melbourne jockey Craig Williams suggested punters refer to the scoreboard when assessing Brazilian Pulse's chances of beating Shamrocker in Saturday's Group I AJC Australian Oaks (2400m) at Randwick.

Shamrocker stormed into Oaks favouritism after the Danny O'Brien-trained filly disposed of the colts and geldings in last Saturday's Group I AJC Australian Derby (2400m) but Williams said Brazilian Pulse has the wood on her rival.

"Shamrocker was impressive in the Derby but our form book against Shamrocker is excellent. I think we have beaten her three times so far,” Williams

"I think Brazilian Pulse has the score on the board and it is most important that we keep that going on Saturday.”

Shamrocker has never finished ahead of Brazilian Pulse in three clashes between the classy fillies.

Brazilian Pulse beat Shamrocker home in the Group II Manifold Stakes (1600m), Group II Wakeful Stakes (2000m) and the Group I VRC Oaks (2500m) in the spring.

All of the races were run at Flemington.

Brazilian Pulse raced three-deep for the entire trip before finishing third to Mirjulisa Lass in the Group I Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill on Golden Slipper day.

However, the Mike Moroney-trained filly has drawn barrier one in the AJC Australian Oaks, leaving only a small possibility of Brazilian Pulse racing wide in the $550,000 feature.

"She will get a rest for the first three quarters of the race. From the draw, she is going to be the one to beat,” Williams said.

TAB Sportsbet has Brazilian Pulse as a $4.60 second favourite behind Shamrocker at $2.50.
