A dream victory

Tough filly My Dream Catcher was back in winning form at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday, showing considerable grit to take out the Magnum Handicap.
Appreciating a return to the 1800m, the well related daughter of Cape Cross sat off the pace in a truly run race, finishing off strongly.
Headed by eventual runner up Loves A Challenge, she dug deep to again find the front and prevail by a gutsy short half head.
A winner at the Gold Coast in late April, My Dream Catcher had not enjoyed a great deal of luck since and Michael Moroney was pleased to see her hit hte line.
"That other horse went past her quickly," he said, "and she really came back strongly - which augurs well for her staying potential."
"We'll toss around a bit whether to keep her going here or give her a break and head to Melbourne in the spring," he continued.
“The way she finished off today, I think she may even be able to go 2000 metres."
Raced by the GKV Holdings Ltd Synd (manager Kevin Algie) and Michael Head, My Dream Catcher is a $220,000 Karaka graduate from one of the world's most prolific families.
Her dam Indian Dream is a half sister to the stakes winner Campo Catino and granddaughter of the Royal Ascot Gr.2 winner Lisadell.
My Dream Catcher can also boast amongst her relations the Gr.1 winners Fatherland, Endless Hall, El Condor Pasa, Soldier Hollow, King Pellinore, Jade Robbery, Archipenko and Blame - as well as the influential stallions Sadler's Wells, Nureyev, Fairy King and Thatching.
Saturday was oh so nearly a great day for the stable, Tinseltown game in defeat in the Listed Caloundra Cup.
Caught wide and having to do plenty of work worse than midfield, the tough gelding worked home extremely well - only just failing to pick up Ironstein who carried 3kg less.
"When you get back and caught off the track lumping the weight he did compared to the winner and only get beaten a short margin, it is frustrating,” Moroney admitted.
“He has been a frustrating horse because in the Brisbane Cup he got beaten by a couple of short heads and he’s won some nice races in New Zealand - but it would be nice for him to win a big race here.”
