THREE GOOD CHANCES AT SANDOWN ON WEDNESDAY

Three good chances for the stable when Pedro Ximenez, Barthelona and Born To Fight run at Sandown on Wednesday.

Pedro Ximenez (pictured) is the first to go in race four, the Dream Thoroughbreds Handicap over 2400m and to be ridden by Patrick Moloney.

It will be the eighth run this preparation for the son of High Chaparral however, Mike Moroney is satisfied the four-year-old is coping well.

“He continues to please on the track and is showing no signs of having had enough,” Moroney said.

“He’s in a similar race to last start and we ride him more patiently than last time when he went forward.

“I do think he is a better chaser than a leader and if he can get the race run to suit then I think he can be right in the finish.”

Barthelona commences his latest campaign in race six, the Spicer Thoroughbreds Handicap over 1200m.

It is the first start for Barthelona since last November and Moroney has elected to take advantage of Fred Kersley’s claim to reduce the topweight to 58.5kg.

“I’m very very pleased with the way he has come back in and both his jump outs have been very good leading into this,” Moroney said.

“This looks a very good starting point which is why we opted to go for some weight relief and I’m expecting him to run very well.”

Born To Fight rounds out the day in race seven, the Ladbrokes Back Yourself Handicap over 1600m with Patrick Moloney to ride.

The Street Boss gelding disappointed last start from a wide draw at Sandown and Moroney has made a gear change for today’s race.

“We’ve taken the blinkers off to give him every chance to get the trip and he will be ridden quietly,” Moroney said.

“He has again drawn wide but he comes in three after scratchings and we’ve decided to run as we wants to find out if he gets 1600m.

“His work has been good since his last start and if he runs up to his best then he will be in the finish.”
