PARSIFAL DOUBLES UP

Parsifal made it two wins on end with a strong performance at Ballarat on Wednesday.

Taking on older horses at Benchmark 64 level over 1400m, Parsifal was settled in second place to the home turn before being allowed to move alongside around the home turn.

Parsifal struck the front 200m out and was kept up to his work by Patrick Moloney to score by a long neck over Cedar Grande.

Mike Moroney was pleased to see the son of Darci Brahma show some determination to win.

“He was certainly brave but he’s still got a lot to learn,” Moroney said.

“He still hasn’t really switched on but he was up against some tough older horses and he applied himself to win.”

Moroney will wait and assess Parsifal before deciding if he runs again this preparation.

“I thought under the circumstances it was a good effort and there is plenty more to come,” Moroney said.

“He’s still quite rangy and a preparation away from hitting his peak - he’s around 16.3 hands and still looks on the new side and unfurnished.

“We may give him another run this time but it’s very promising as whatever he does this preparation he will certainly improve on.

“We’ll wait and see how he comes through the race and make a decision from there.”

Parsifal was purchased as a yearling by Paul Moroney for $140,000 at the 2016 Premier Sale at Karaka.
