PARSIFAL A HORSE ON THE WAY UP

Parsifal confirmed the high opinion Mike Moroney has of the three-year-old with a dominant win at Ballarat on Sunday.

Ridden to the lead by Patrick Moloney in the 3YO Maiden (1400m), Parsifal quickened clear early in the home straight and was untroubled in the run to the line to score by 1 ¾-lengths over Exceltara.

“We’ve always had a good opinion of Parsifal,” Moloney said. “He’s a pretty laid back sort of customer and doesn’t necessarily show too much at home.

“I trialled him one day and I could see he just being smart and taking the mickey out of us.

“You could feel he had ability there.

“First start he got lost a little bit early but he’s learned a lot from that as you saw today.”

Pictured winning a jumpout at Werribee in January, Parsifal made ground on debut when fifth at Ballarat last month over 1100m and Moloney said the son of Darci Brahma easily coped with the 1400m trip on Sunday.

“He jumped cleanly today and was able to dictate, if anything he was floating and going too slow in the middle stages,” Moloney said.

“He’s got a good turn of foot and I think he’ll improve greatly from here.”

Parsifal was purchased by Paul Moroney Bloodstock as a yearling at the 2016 Premier Sale at Karaka for $140,000.
