ANOTHER HEAVY TRACK FOR OUR RUNNERS ON FRIDAY

Two runners at Taupo on Friday with Kane and Retort representing Ballymore Stables.

Kane (pictured) is the first to go in race three for fillies and mares over 1300m.

Co-trainer Pam Gerard said the shocking weather has dictated the drop back in distance.

“We’ve been finding it really hard to find a track with the way the weather has been,” Gerard said.

“Freshening her up and dropping back in distance should have her right for a step up in distance next start.

“She’s drawn nicely for Taupo so that gives us some options. She’s likely to go forward but there’s a bit of pace in the race so we’ll just have to see how things pan out.

“She’s very well in herself, squealing and jumping out of her skin actually so the run will do her some good and let’s hope she can figure in the finish.”

Retort is set to debut in race seven, an open maiden over 1000m, unfortunately the track is heavy(10) and he has drawn out wide.

“It’s not ideal but we do think a bit of the horse,” Gerard said. “The atrocious weather has tested everyone’s patience.

“The main thing is for him to have a nice experience but if the track deteriorated any further then we might wait for another day with him.”
