RHYTHM AND SONGS AT THE VALLEY

Two runners for the stable at Moonee Valley on Saturday, including Rhythm To Spare in the feature race of the day.

Rhythm To Spare (pictured) has won his past two starts and lines up in the Group II Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes over 1600m.

The eight-year-old has drawn ideally in barrier five and despite the weight-for-age conditions of the race, Mike Moroney expects a forward showing.

“There should be some nice give in the track and that will suit him,” Moroney said.

“There are some different form lines in the race and with some horses proven at the trip like He’s Our Rokkii.

“I think the key will be speed in the race - if it is slowly run early then a sprint home it will be ideal for him and I do think it’s a good chance for him to win a big race.”

Yesterday’s Songs will jump from the outside barrier in the seventh race, the Strathmore Community Bendigo Bank Stakes over 1200m.

“He’s drawn wide but that is not really a disadvantage given the way the speed is in the race,” Moroney said.

“The sting out of the ground will suit him and it could turn out to be a fast run race and there looks some depth in the race as well but if he gets some luck and it turns into a mad dash then he’s capable of getting home strong late.”
