BARTHELONA BACK AT BENDIGO

No rest for anyone with three runners for Ballymore Stables at Bendigo on Sunday in Barthelona, Little Rock and Sognani.

Little Rock is the first go in race four, making her debut in the TCL Maiden over 1100m at 1.35pm (aest).

The daughter of Fastnet Rock has drawn barrier 10 in a field of 15 but Mike Moroney feels she is ready to go.

“She’s drawn out a little bit but she does have horses outside her which will help her not get lost,” Moroney said.

“As you woud expect in a maiden at this time of the year and at Bendigo it looks a decent enough field but we like our filly and expect her to thereabouts if she can get a nice run in the race.”

Barthelona (pictured) is in the seventh race, the Benchmark 78 Handicap over 1000m and he too has drawn wide, 12 in a field of 16 including emergencies.

The four-year-old is first-up having last raced when unplaced at Flemington in March.

“He still hasn’t quite come in the coat but he’s good and healthy,” Moroney said.

“He’s starting to relax a bit more in his work and he’s fitter coming into the race. His last jumpout was good and he’s taken good benefit from that.

“We’re very happy with him and he looks a good each-way chance.”

Sognani is the last to go in race nine, the Fillies and Mares Benchmark 64 Handicap over 1400m where she has drawn barrier five.

The daughter of Magic Albert should be suited in this class after tackling city races at her past two starts.

“I think the soft track will suit her and she looks like she has struck a winnable race,” Moroney said.

“From the draw we can ride her to suit and she is very well in herself.

“All things being equal we are expecting her to run a better race.”
