No winners at Sunshine Coast - but still a good day!

Our three Sunshine Coast runners Saturday all performed with distinction - two of our up-and-comers in the shape of Deraismes and Syndrome earning black type which augers well for their future.
Neither at their absolute best in the very heavy conditions, the pair were both game in their respective Listed races - Deraismes finishing on well for third after striking interference in the Sunshine Coast Cup and Syndrome also running on strongly for a Sunshine Coast Guineas third.
"Deraismes was never really travelling," Michael Moroney said, "and Glen Boss said she didn't feel quite as good as she did when he won on her at Sandown. But she really got on the bit at the 600m and tried hard."

Always on the back foot after a set-back early in her Queensland preparation, Deraismes did a good job - the aim of the campaign to earn black-type which she has done. She will now spell in Queensland with the Melbourne spring's country cups (such as Bendigo and Ballarat) her aim.
Syndrome is another to head to the paddock with late spring races also his aim. He has come a long way in just five starts, stepping up in grade and progressing nicely.
"His run was very good," said Moroney, "it is hard to give away ground on such a heavy track and he did get a long way back."
Also running well was our Gr.1 winner Mr Baritone, also not completely at home in the heavy going.
"He probably got a bit too far back but he still ran a good race - the testing conditions were a bit tough on him."
Another nice run for the stable last week was the imported filly Kyllaros who debuted with an encouraging fourth at Cranbourne on Sunday.
A daughter of the outstanding European stallion Monsun, her dam Woman In White (out of the Irish 1000 Guineas winner Nicer) was purchased in foal by Tony Santic at a Tattersalls Sale at Newmarket. Kyllaros was foaled in the UK, making the trip south with her well related dam.
"She is a nice staying type," said Moroney - "the further she goes the better."
