A trio of three-year-olds

Back from a busy time at the Karaka Sales and happy with the way Yesterday's Songs and Alaskan Rose pulled up from their first up assignments at Flemington on Saturday, Michael Moroney is looking forward to three young horses hitting the track this week.

The first of those is the Domesday three-year-old Geodesic (pictured) who makes his debut from an outside gate in the 1200m maiden at Ballarat on Tuesday.

Described by Moroney as "a nice horse in the making," Geodesic performed well in a recent Flemington jump-out but has been a little green.

"He still has a bit to learn and from that tricky gate he will probably have to go back. So long as he is running on well we will be happy."

Moroney also trained Geodesic's dam, the dual city winning stakes placed Grand Lodge mare Deraismes whose first foal is the promising The French House.

We have two runners in the Ladbrokes Handicap at Sandown on Wednesday; Loyalty Man and War Legend.

Having his first run since a Listed fifth at Flemington in November, the Fastnet Rock gelding Loyalty Man has always shown plenty of potential and has come up well.

"He has improved a lot and we think there is a nice race for him at some stage," Moroney enthused.

"He is forward enough to show something first up and is a very interesting runner."

War Legend, who was third in that same Listed event at Flemington, also resumes and we are looking forward to seeing what he does as he progresses through his campaign.

"He is more of a staying type and we spent all last campaign teaching him to settle. So he should get back, hopefully with some cover, and depending on how much pace there is hopefully he can finish off well. He too has improved."
