Beyond Purple dashing at debut

It was straight to the front for Beyond Purple at Warrnambool on Sunday and that is just where the exciting filly stayed, sustaining her natural speed throughout to record a smart debut victory.

Jumping well from an inside gate, the daughter of Reward For Effort was at times pressured by the horse on her outside but approaching the turn she was able to shake off her rivals and away she went.

"She is a pretty switched on filly," said jockey Ben Allen.

"She flew the gates and from there got into stride. When the pressure went on she picked up really nicely."

Dropping his whip with 100m to go, Allen rode Beyond Purple out hands and heels but that was his plan anyway - "I was actually putting the whip away when the wind blew it out of my hands!"

A graduate of last year's Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale, Beyond Purple is out of the Gr.3 placed multiple city winner Pinpante. Five of her six foals to race have been winners including the Listed winner Pantenny.

Beyond Purple is raced by a large and enthusiastic group of owners including racing scribe Neale Donnelley who made the trek to Warrnambool to cheer the bay on.

"It is very exciting to win at debut," he said, describing Beyond Purple as "a nice, jump and run filly."

"She has not grown much since she was a yearling but she has thickened and strengthened. There is not a lot of her but she is a ball of muscle."

"And she is very quick, a natural runner."
