Lead up to a busy weekend

We have a couple of busy days leading into a big weekend and we are looking forward to cheering on some nice horses at Pakenham and Warwick Farm on Wednesday and at Sale on Thursday.

Kicking off our mid-week action is Tivaci in the third event at Pakenham and it will be interesting to see how the promising three-year-old measures up rising in grade off a smart maiden victory at Echuca.

"We have been very happy with him," Michael Moroney reported, "but he did run about a bit at his first start."

"So it could be that greenness may beat him but other than that he should go close."

Tivaci jumps from barrier eight for champion rider Damien Oliver.

Meanwhile in Sydney we have Nordic Duke nicely drawn in barrier four for Christian Reith in the More Than Ready Handicap over 2200m.

Close up at Sandown last time out, the consistent seven-year-old has ventured north in search of rain but unfortunately that is yet to come!

Kiwi Dreamer is the first of our three Sale runners and he looks ready to break his maiden with Jake Noonan aboard.

Game seconds at his last two starts, the Pentire four-year-old has had "a bit of a set-back" with a high temperature but looks to have recovered well.

In the fourth event we have two runners including the debutant Cape Londonderry, a son of Pentire and the Stravinsky mare Modern Lady.

"He is a staying sort," Moroney said, "and he will be better over further with a bit of practice."

Gold Kroner has drawn a tricky gate in the same race but we are hoping that he can turn his form around after a disappointing run at Ballarat last start.

"He is quite a nice horse who has trained on well and we will see from this race whether he keeps going or has a break."
